  1. I was was there, but I don’t remember much from then…

  2. I used to go to the Hideout in Clawson Mi and watch the battle of the bands with you guys. I remember Punch was the mgr of the Knights of Columbus there. Now that makes me old… Think that was in the late 60′s too.

  3. I remember Bob Seger (might have been the System) playing at the ski lodge at Mt. Holly during the summer. Bob used to be “one of us” I had a crush! And then I saw the band on Robin Seymour Swinging Time! Now that makes me old!

  4. I remember seeing Bob Seger play at Eddie Edgar Ice Arena in Livonia. It must have been 71 or 72. Turns out my future hubby was there too! I think it cost $2 to get in. And it was great!

  5. I remember Friday night dances at Aquinas High School in Southgate and Bob playing there. Boy those were the days!

    • My dad went to Aquinas and tells me about the same thing all the time. He also says The Amboy Dukes played there as well.

      • I am in same boat my dad says same thing to me, he went there. Amboy dukes, seger, mc5, coop….what a crock! I got a dj for my prom and homecoming. I’d rather had live entertainment.

  6. the show for ALSAC on oct 7,1972 was at sherwood forest in davison. i was one of the leading fund raisers & we were all treated to free tickets to the show…..i’ve been a diehard fan since & was lucky enough to see him 1 more time in saginaw in 2006. Musical Memories in flint has great posters for concerts at sherwood forest in the early 70′s where Bob is 3rd down the list of bands! anyone remember Wild Wednesdays out there?

    • Yes,my Grandparents property adjoined Sherwood, and my Grandpa complained about the music being too Loud!

    • I remember the concerts at Sherwood Forest and the horses and the pond with a high diving board but it was in the late 60′s and early 70″s and I was a young boy. I saw some big festivals where lots of the bands played MC5, Grand Funk, I think Seger was with the System and maybe the Last Herd, Frost, SRC. My aunt and cousin were crazy teenage chicks who were supposed to be babysitting me so they took me wherever they went. I remember I wound up back stage at a Nugent concert. I wonder what those girls could have been doing back there? I have seen Bob many times over the decades and the last tour was awesome, I saw a couple shows. I ran into Bob at a grocery store recently and told him I was looking forward to another tour and I am glad it has come to pass. My daughter has never seen Bob so we are going to the Cleveland show and I’m sure I will get to a Michigan show as well. Sherwood Forest had some crazy hippies running around as I recall. One of them put me on a horse and took me for a ride. The guy was a speed freak of both varieties so it was pretty unforgettable.

  7. I remember seeing Bob in the mid ’60′s. He and Scott Richard were talking prior to a gig at the Montgomery Ward on Grand River and Greenfield.

  8. I’ve been a Bob Seger fan since around 76. I have every “album” and love them just as much now as I do then. Back in 1987 my oldest daughter who was 2 at the time love Sunspot Baby. It was her fasvorite song, although the music in Mainstreet madeher cry. She said it was sad! In 1996 my youngest daughter had to listen to Katmandu evey day riding to kindergarten, she loved the “kat kat kat kat kat”!! Now today my 2yr old granddaughter dances to Get Out of Denver. My six month old grandson is yet to lean the joy of Bob Seger…but he will!!! Three generations of Bob Seger fans, I guess I’m doing my part in raising my grandkids the right way. Thanks Bob!!

    • Saw Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band Numerous times in Lex. & Louisville, Ky. around this time. This music is Timeless. Still as Great today as it was in the Early-Mid 70s. This was when Music was Music. Bob & the Guys were as Good the 8-9th time as they were the 1st time i saw them. But, it was the 70s. BEST Era Ever. I was there. Just really Don’t remember alot of it. But, Definetely remember the Music. Sat at one of the Concerts with or beside Bobs girlfriend/wife. Still play this music almost everyday. My Kids & Grandkids Love it too. Anyone who Did NOT live in the 70s era. Has No Idea what GOOD/GREAT Times Really are? Man, i Sure MISS those days. People knew ow to have a Great time without Guns, knives or killing anyone. Sure, we Smoked some Weed/Grass/Doobies. But, it Was NOT Laced with the stuff it is today. Like Crack, Meth, etc. When, you had Weed? That was what you had. Buds, Tiesticks. Uhhh Ohhhh there went the Last Brain cell i had left. What was i talking about? Hmmmmmmm!!! But, i KNOW i was there. I’m Sure of it… LOVED the 70s. Anyone have a Time Machine? Tryed Calgon. You know “Take me Awayyyy”!! It WON”T Work. IF, anyone has a Time Machine that CAN take me Back to the 70s. I will be 1st in line. You that have No Idea what i am talking about. Look up Some of the Bands of the mid-late 60s to 70-79. Then, you’ll see WHY the 70s was and always will be the Greatest era Ever. Bob Seger, Bad Co, Kansas,CCR, Rolling Stones,3 Dog Night, Steppenwolf, Nazareth WAYYYY tooo Many to even start or to TRY to begin listing. But, people had Morals, Respect “Given & Recieved”. People had a Really Good Time without Hurting or Bothering anyone else. Had FUN. But, it was 95% “Good Clean Fun”. For ALL of Those who Lived their Teenage/20s/30s in the 70s era? Man, Weren’t we the Lucky Ones? People want to say “OHH, But Times Have Changed”?? I Beg to Differ with you. It’s the People who have Changed the times. Does Anyone out there KNOW What i am Talking about? Thanks to ALL of the GREATEST Artists EVER. The BANDS/Groups of the 70s. GOD BLESS!! P.S. Will Not Apologize for this being Soo Longg!! Only Those who were there Can/Will Appreciate ANY of This…For Those who were at some of these Concerts in the 70s? Please, POST “IF, You Remember ANY of it”?? LOL!! Bill

      • I, unfortunately, never had the pleasure of seeing Bob Seger in concert, but I did grow up in the 70′s and I agree with everything you said 100%. The music was the best, the people were the best and if I could, I would also go back to that time. It’s so good to hear from someone else who has “old school” morals and ethics!!! My husband and I always talk about rounding all of us up and moving to our own little neighborhood! If only we could! Thank you for taking me back to my teen-age years, it was great reminiscing with you!

  9. Summer of ’69 met Bob at a party in Ann Arbor…boy those were the days. Always sang, his voice was great then and now. Thanks Bob, for your gift of music for all to enjoy and cherish.

  10. I lived about 15 mins. from Mt. Holly and remember Bob playing there during the summer. I was not quite legal at that time but was able to sneak out there and sneak in!!

  11. My brother listened to Bob Segar all the time when I was growing up. he is 7 years older than me and I LOVE BOB SEGER I will always love his music. It does bring back memories. I could sit or ride allday long to his music . Bob Segar you are the best.

  12. I am unfortunately to young to remember the early years but when I was 10 I took over my Uncle’s Stranger in Town album and I was hooked from then on. Now I have everything he’s recorded and listen to him any time I need to boost my mood. I’ve seen him in concert 4 times and have never been disappointed. Even my husband who is a little jealous of my love for Bob says his was the best concert he’s been to. My son is a fan, used to rock him to Turn the Page and if I ever get grandchildren I expect I’ll do the same for them. LOVE YA BOB!

  13. Wow. the memories will never die. I have been Bob’s greatest fan since the beginning, Aquinas High, Lincoln Park High and then he opened for Bachman Turner Overdrive IF you can imagine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then there was the — what was it — five show sellout at COBO when I went to every show…only to find out days later when wearing a Seger t-shirt to work at WSU’s TV studio that I worked side by side with Tom Cartmell’s (Alto Reed) mom and didn’t even know it.
Bob is Detroit’s GREATEST asset and export. He is the reason I am still proud to be a Detroiter, even though I haven’t lived in MI for 20 years.

  14. I was not old enough to go to his concerts, but I love his music. When feeling blue I put in Old Time Rock & Roll and play it as loud as possible. My day is much better. Everywhere I go and they have requests it always Bob for me. At my funeral I have a list of Bob’s songs I want played as loud & proud as they can. All my family & friends know i love your music. I am hoping if you do go on tour in 2011 or 2012 I will fill a dream and be able to attend at least one concert before I die. Keep on Rockin’ I love ya

  15. Hi. I´m a Seger fan. I like his music. I´m from Bilbao, Basque country, in Europe.
Old time rock an roll…Like a rock, and a lot of more… Timeless. I play it loud, very loud, specially Old Time RnR.
It helps me to feel better to relax.

  16. Where did he play in 1972 in Tallahassee, Florida? The Civic Center wasn’t buillt yet. Occasionally there would be concerts at Doak Cambell Stadium.

I didn’t get to see Bob Seger until 1986 in Jacksonville, Florida. My mother adored his music and I went with her and my father. We were on the floor, my mom was 40 at the time. All of a sudden, and she denied do this until she died in 2007, she took off and made her way to the front row! My father and I were astounded and yet, loved it.

We have a pact now, that we are going to see him on this tour in honor of my mother. If that means a trip to Detroit from North Florida, well, that’s what we’re going to do!

  17. I remember The Bob Seger System playing at the Band Canyon in Bay City, MI during the 60′s when the band was just starting. One thing that I remember about Bob was that during the band breaks, he would circulate throughout the crowd, talking with the audience and getting their reactions to their music. Bob was / is still a regular guy that truly cares about his fans. Thanks for the memories.

  18. I don’t think I saw Bob on tour during this time BUT he shared a house on Traver Rd. in Ann Arbor with my former husband Steve Head, Richie Basil, Rich Gregory, Leonard Hines John McGee, Ken Elder, ETC in 1965. We often climbed into the car to go see Bob at local dives in Ohio and Detroit when he was first starting out. He had a girlfriend named Marie. We had many great parties at that house. Many bands came to the railroad station to play and Bob played with them. They often stayed at the Traver Road house. Sadly Steve Head and the Rich Gregory are gone now. But I remember how much fun we had. How nice it was to be up front to see an artist play.

  19. Longtime Bob Seger fan here too, I always told my kids and friends that I almost married him, but, he never wrote me back, lol. I had all my kids listening to his music from the day they were born, told them he could have been their father, but, he never wrote back. Now my kids and grandkids listen to his music too and can name his songs in the first few seconds of it starting!!! I could say who’s that and they know! I’m keeping the flame burning in my window if he ever decides to write me back. His concerts are awesome, the last one I went to was in Knoxville,TN around 1996 or 97. Will go again with my daughter this time!

  20. I was there when those 16 track tapes were rollin for the Live Bullet. Awesome concert. My 1st time to see Bob live was at Sherwood Forest in Davison,Mi. 2+2 is still on my mind. The I.M.A. auditorium in Flint, Mi. rocked when Tegarden & Vanwincle sounded like they belonged to the System. Other times in Saginaw kept my thirst quenched. The last concert at The Palace was equally great. Bob & The Bullet have always been the greatest live Rock & Roll band ever. SEE you all in Saginaw again.

  21. Bob used to play in the Dome In Port Huron in the mid 60s and I saw him there but that’s long before any of this record shows. I remember being there to see Him and the System and heard Ramblin Gamblin Man for the first time so that was probably 68. I was in a local band, we didn’t have DJs back then, live bands good or bad. The Dome was actually 3 fiberglass dome buildings built together, you went in the middle one and on either side was a stage in those domes so 2 bands playing at the same time. I was in a band and when we got the gig found out we’d be playing against Bob Seger so borrowed a bunch of equipment knowing what we were up against. Between sets we went outside for a smoke and Bob cussed us out quite colorfully that he couldn’t hear his own bass in their room. My one and only claim to fame I guess. That was the night I first heard Ramblin Gablin Man– and the only time I met Bob.

  22. I remember the ALSAC concert from a few years earlier–The 5th Dimension , Funkadelic (1′ll Bet You” big hit ) and of course, Bob
Seger System. Unfortunately, their hit song at the time was “Noah”..I still enjoyed the show from the front row and being star struck
at seeing DANNY THOMAS!! Great thing was, I think Seger was the only one that played “live” , the rest were pre recorded lip-sync.

  23. We were lucky in the Detroit area, we had a choice in the ’60s with the local rockers, Motown, and the British Invasion all at the same
    time!!

  24. Bob Seger was the first “LIVE” concert that I ever went to. I was 15 years old & it still brings a smile to my face when I think about it. I’m not sure why it’s not listed on the ’72 tour dates, it was Sunday July 23 in Pekin, IL at an old railroad station. I still have my ticket stub. It was sponsored by Broadway Productions & it was a whopping $3 in advance. It was the highlight of the summer of ’72 for me! I’ve had the pleasure to see him perform 2 other times & can’t wait to see him in Chicago on May 14. “Still the Same” after all these years :)

  25. I saw Bob’s band and several other Michigan bands with a friend of mine at the opening for Oakland Mall, back when that was a new expansion of the city. It was fun to see all those bands emerging from the Detroit. Bob has the songwriting and the unique voice. It was an all day event and outdoors. Fun!

  26. I so enjoyed reading all the comments. You and your band played at our Trenton, MI sockhops back in the 60′s. Also, Bob, my dad (Robert Wick) was a high school teacher of yours and always said that you were a nice young. man. Thanks for your gift of music. Robyn Myers

  27. In the summer of 70 and 71, at a fenced off farmer’s field in North Baltimore Ohio we called ‘The Park’, and then to the ‘Quarry’ afterwards where I happened to meet him one night after the shows were over. Both Bob and Ted Nugent seemed to play there rather often and the very first time I saw Bob perform I instantly became a life-long fan. I would ‘thumb’ my way to his shows in my early years, later driving but always going to see him play whenever I could, my kids grew up listeniing to him perform and now my grandkids are, ( Like a Rock, we keep going ), I will see him later this week in Cleveland and it will be my 10th time seeing him perform, am SO looking forward to the show, I will visit his exibit at the Rock Hall of fame that morning, ( my 1st time there ), go to his show that night, what a thrill it would be to maybe run across him at the museum, would be a memory for life, would LOVE to get something autographed from him, album or jersey perhaps?…don’t I wish,…anyway, I will keep looking for any new music he would ever put out and make sure that any of my lineage knows just what a GREAT contribution Bob’s music has made in this world for ALL the ages to yet come

  28. I just saw him at Buffalo Saturday night for the second time. Last time I saw him was in the late 90′s. But I have liked for a very LONG time. I have alot of his old albums, I know albums. I LOVE YOU BOB.

  29. All of the comments bring back such fond and hidden memories!! In the 1966-68 Bob and his band would make the trek to Lakeland Castle in Caseville, Mi. where they were the featured band with local Thumb battle of the band winners, The Warlocks and The Frats!! Too much fun back then…and the songs he made still resonate perfectly on the boat in Northen Michigan! I’m surprising my wife of 41 years with tickets for tonights concert..I hope it was her that created all those fond listening moments…:) !

  30. Bob Seger is “Great”!!, had the “Best times of my life” listening to him with an “Old Flame”= Linda Swanson.. Linda are you out there darlin???,still think about you, and still have your letters from the 1990′s. Contact me ok on Facebook ok..

  31. First time I saw “Rockin’ Robert” was August of 1986 at Pine Knob, early in the “American Storm/Like A Rock” tour. I waited in line at the Grove Mall in Port Huron for about 5 hours to score them tics. Best $12 I’ve ever spent.”…it was a fine memory, I think I’m gonna take it with me”.

  32. WOW !!! Sherwood Forest !!! I loved that place out there in Davidson Mi. ! Saw the same bands as Brownsvill Station, The Rasberries ( got booed off after they played their only hit to bubblegum ) Plain Brown Wrapper who got sued by Disney for the lyrics M I K L S D THAT’S THE DRUG FOR YOU AND ME !!!! . Gil forgot about the mud slide hill next to the pond !! Every once in a while they bought in a huge long beam back hough and would dredge the pond and put the dirt back at the top. I was also at the IMC Vangarden & Teerwinkle show which I believe was the Smokin’ OPs tour show. Bob played dozens of shows around Mi. in the late 60s and early 70s. I’v seen him at least 40 times including here in Miami Fl. Best show, hands down Skidway Lake out door farm concert !!!!!!

  33. I remember Bob from years earlier. A little club on the east side of Detroit owned by 2 brothers. It was called the Red Carpet on East Warren Ave. I checked ID at the door (even though I was only 19). You could tell then that he would go all the way to the top. He was always upbeat, happy, and kind to everyone that he came into contact with. Trying to get tkts for Saturday at Mohegan Sun–hope there are still some left. Seger and Motown–just two of the many things we were lucky to have growing up in Detroit.

  34. I remember Bob in a Big! way. In 1971, I was 17 and I sung lead and background when he was with Tea Garden/Van Winkle Band. It was a great experience and I had a blast! recording the Smokin OP’s album and touring with him.

  35. Television commercials for pickup trucks tend to show images of a dozen bags of cement, two tons of hay or huge loads of lumber being dropped into the bed of the gleaming vehicle while Bob Seger…

  36. I saw Bob Seger in 1971 or 72 in Orlando Fl The promoter ran off with the money from the ticket sales and the concert was postponed . They played the next day and said it was a free show as far as they were concerned and we ‘re going to ROCK & ROLL your ——— off, and they did it was my first concert. I hitch hiked from Tavares to Orlando and back 2 times ( 30 miles one way) . Do you know what the date was for this show?
