I did not see that show, I was only 11 years old – but I have heard the music and I am driving the same station wagon on the picture above in Germany. All the best to all Bob Seger fans from far far away….
I saw Bob and the gang at my local high school when I was a young and foolish teenager between 1968-70 and started following the boys in many gig’s through out Michigan. Rock & Roll will never die, and neither will Bob Seger music and talent. My wife and I are bless again and will see him again in March 2011 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and I hope that I can find four more reasonably price tickets for other concerts in Michigan.
We might be struggling with high unemployment and rotten representatives here in Michigan, but our music thanks in many parts to Bob and the boys is some of the best in the country.
God Bless and long live Rock & Roll.
was 14 yrs old when my brother and me hitch up to jax from sarasota. got a ride from some hippie in a ford bronco who was going to the same show. i’ve been to hundreds of concerts since then but that one is still my all time favorite. on a side note, i’m from motown originaly
and had only been i fla for a short while. about 5 years earlier me and my brother saw Bob at a place called Boblo Island in detroit.
wonder if anyone was there or even remembers that.
wow,i remember boblo island
and the 2 big boats docked rite on the river downtown
i live across the river in windsor an id see those boats
everyday from our side

dont no if u new that,
but ya those were the days
I was invited to see Mr. Seger in Springfield, MO in 1979 (or so) after listening to my friends album for months. He didn’t tell me until we got there it was front row tickets! The concert was off-the-charts, but it got even better, as after the show a very tall bodyguard approached me saying that Mr. Seger wanted to meet me back stage…maybe the green scoop-neck sweater had something to do with it, but regardless my escort was SO jealous. Because I had the good fortune of meeting the real gentleman behind those amazing tunes, and indeed he was so kind and respectful that evening, and laughed at Stanley hanging over the railing screaming “Bob – Bob!” in effort to get his attention. So he gave me his autograph on a photo to give him, after I explained how he’d stood in line all night waiting to get those front-row seats. Well – the story picks up again in Phoenix, 1982-3 (those years are still blurry). I managed to get in on a pair of backstage passes through a media friend, and again I saw the concert up close and later while backstage was invited to the house where he was staying and given a tour – I remember the black lacquered-gold inlaid furniture and the olympic pool. Won’t go into all that went on there, but had a second opportunity to meet Mr. Seger that evening, and this time he was especially kind in offering me a limo ride home rather than my calling a cab. When the driver dropped me off, I was given a gift card that read “Free Limo DAY OUT with your friends”, compliments of Mr. Seger. I’ll never forget sitting in my living room in the wee-hours of that morning feeling like Cinderella – twice. Six of us had a blast that day in the Limo, taking it all over the city playing Seger well into the evening – it was our tribute – and I treasure the pictures of us all piling out of a Limo in front of 7-11 and from atop of Lookout mountain. Alot of pages have turned since then…I’ve ridden solo across country on a motorcycle when girls didn’t do such things and been perceived as a man, and have been on stage and given it all away. I’m 52 now, have raised 3 kids, enjoyed a great computer & ministry career and seen much success while being surrounded by a loving family, AND have stood against the wind in two battles with cancer. I will always treasure my Bob Seger encounters as being times when the Stars were truly aligned over me and I was indeed Special. I’d love to see him again, but the tickets are sooo high and are so far away from the stage…for me, to drop $300 and then not get to meet him and look into his eyes and say, “Wow! We made it.” just seems like the wrong ending to my story. So I send God’s best Blessings to the Gentleman that made my youth one that few can tell with their chastity in tact. Thank You Mr. Seger and the Silver Bullet Band for all the wonderful memories you’ve given us, especially those from the 70′s & 80′s!
The only time I was ever able to go see Mr Seger was in 1981-82 (Aginst the wind tour) in Oklahoma City, I was all of about 15 and was so freaking excited to get to go. The only ticket I could get was way up in the nose bleed seats (Top Row). After 1/4 flash played we were waiting for Bob and I had to go to the rest room real bad( I had waited and waited not wanting to miss any part of the show), so I headed down the 5000 steep steps to the landing and as I started down, Old time rock-n-roll started started to play, I slipped and fell, I rolled all the way to the Bottom and the cops scooped me up and thinking I was drunk threw me out the front doors. So I sat outside all brused and banged up from the rool down the steps and listened to the greatest show I never saw. Bob Thanks for the many years of memories, and feeling’s through out my life. Keep em comin on….
